2009 Research Symposium

March 30 – April 3, 2009

“Building bridges to discovery by creating a culture of INQUIRY”

As Tennessee State University builds on its reputation as a renowned research institution, it continues to provide its students with opportunities to present academic work in a public setting that offers important preparation for graduate school, professional programs, and career development. Current areas of research include, but are not limited to, astrobiology, genomics, nanotechnology, sensors, bioinformatics and environmental studies. The 2009 Research Symposium extends those efforts to bring together visionary artists and thinkers from across the campus, breaking new ground in the areas of music, dance, performance, visual arts and technology.

Tennessee State University’s 31st Annual University-wide Research Symposium will be an extraordinary five-day interdisciplinary celebration showcasing the range of faculty/staff-mentored student research that is being conducted across all academic disciplines. This event will mark the first year that the symposium will offer visual and performing arts, workshops, exhibits, demonstrations, displays, tutorials and other forms of intellectual exploration designed to engage and enlighten future researchers and artisans from area high schools.
